Independent Engineer Services

Due diligence is essential for any investment. Solar projects carry risk that can be mitigated, whereby financial costs are reduced through confirmation of a quality design and installation. Our Independent Engineer (IE) Review adds value and confidence that your PV project will stay online producing power as expected.

SEIPS engineers and technicians provide industry-leading unbiased technical reviews. We cover electrical, civil, and structural engineering aspects of the projects. We carefully consider relationships between the various entities involved while reviewing interconnection agreements, power purchase agreements, construction contracts, and design plan sets all in the context of code compliance, best practices, and efficiently meeting project goals.

The Basis for a Successful Project
Our Independent Engineer (IE) service revolves around the engineered design of the system and how it is connected to all other parts of the development process.  Because of our position in the industry, we have extensive experience with much of the most current PV technology as it evolves over time.  Our staff literally evaluates and tests these technologies at projects around the globe and at Solar Energy International’s training facility in Colorado.

The IE service can be a partial or complete review of your project.  The following items may be included:

Electrical Plan Set

Civil and Environmental Design Documents

Structural and Racking Design Documents

PV Syst or Other Production Models

Design Build Agreement (DBA)

Power Purchase Agreement (PPA)

Interconnection Agreement (IA)

Equipment Manuals

Permitting Information and Documents

All of our comments from the IE review process are placed in collaborative cloud spaces that can be shared with everyone involved.  SEIPS will review comment responses and back-check revised plans and documents to ensure compliance.  Comments are not closed out until they are resolved with the reviewer, ensuring that all issues are addressed. This IE service is commonly paired with on-site inspections and a performance verification in order to confirm the system has been installed as designed, meets installation codes and best practices, and is performing as expected.
